Getting There

John Dunmore Lang Place is located in the National Triangle in Canberra.

  • Consider your journey to the Canberra Balloon Spectacular with Transport Canberra.

    There are multiple existing services that will stop within the National Triangle, plan your trip at Transport Canberra.

  • The National Triangle is located in one of the most picturesque parts of the city. Consider parking in the city or along Lake Burley Griffin and walking, riding or scooting to the festival.

    Please note that scooters, bicycles and tricycles are not permitted on the balloon launch site at John Dunmore Lang Place. This excludes mobility scooters.

    Bike racks are located within the National Triangle including at each of the national institutions and also locations around the lake. Please note you will need to provide your own bike lock.

    Scooter users will need to use parking locations nearby. You can check these via the Neuron App.

  • Parking within the National Triangle is limited. A map displaying car park spaces within the National Triangle is available on the NCA website.

    Please ensure that where you have parked is a valid spot and you have checked if you need to purchase a ticket. The National Capital Authority will be enforcing parking regulations for the duration of this event, and attendees should ensure they park legally to avoid the risk of an infringement being issued to their vehicle.

    On weekdays and weekends the public car parks within the National Triangle will operate under normal conditions.

    Due to traffic congestion during the event it is recommended that patrons avoid parking in the National Library of Australia carparks.

  • Enjoy delicious baked fresh French pastries, hot cross buns and vegemite scrolls from L'epi Artisan Bakery. Get a loyalty card and have it stamped each day as you buy your daily treats, for the chance to receive free bread - it's your incentive to enjoy hot pastries every morning!

  • As the balloons lift off and drift across the dawn sky enjoy a hot breakfast from the food and coffee carts, which will operate until 9.30am.
